UPDATES : cheapest digital audio heaven
This cheapo little device is amazing : if you feed it 5V it will read any USB key or card full of mp3 and output them in audio directly to your amp. Anyway, as great as it is, this plastic wonder has 3 little problems :
1 - The ouput is so weak that you have to put your stereo at full volume to hear something decent
2 - the controls --- including those with the cheap remote controler included --- are completely erratic. Better let it play without asking him anything. You can be lucky and go to the next file , song or lower volume but most of the time it's at random. Don't touch the EQ section on the remote : you won't be able to know anymore where is the flat setting.
3 - No spdif ... it's a pity....
The only thing I could correct
with foolish pride is the output : I made this little circuit with 2 transistors
from scratch according to what I was listening at .
I am still amazed how
a ultra-simple buffer like this can be precisely tuned to go well with a given
signal. Sometimes just a resistor at a certain point of the circuit changes
everything.
I used a very cheap 5v/12v unit for computer related hardware : 5v for the usb reader and 12v for my preamp. I did not even need to filter the DC ... just a very wee tiny high pitch parasite can be heared if you put your ear on the tweeter....good enough for me...
Now I have a GREAT hifi sounding
mp3 player I can plug on my amps for 15$ in TOTAL ... I am not kidding this
device is now sounding GREAT. With 320Kbp mp3 you'll swear it's a high end CD
player...I just love it. JACQUES meets chinese digital.
But just forget
it without a good preamp.
This chip
does everything.It's a 100% chinese technology product.Really again they could
have put any sort of digital audio output for a fraction of a cent and make
me happy . Mr. Chinese engineer, if you read me please ....
