JACQUES HIFI PAGES
UPDATES : Jacques goes DEMAT
I eventually decided to go dematerialized....a
little late, but it allowed me to spot bargains in this field where basic reader
prices can go in a huge price range depending they're sold for hifi or hitech
geeks.
So I looked for something that could read anything--including flac
of course--- , had a spdif output and no internal hard drive so I can go from
my computer to the reader anytime I want, without rewiring everything. This
Kaiboer H1055 really does the trick for a very low tag. I paired it with a cheap
hard drive below today huge capacities, which are really not needed for music.
On the radio side, I chose the
Terratec webradio IR340 , which is wifi, beautiful while really cheap on some
German websites.
All these new sources needed a state-of-the-art dac, so
I started with the ultramatch into the buffalo....until I found out files changes
or webradio surfing provoked ugly digital glitches sounds that went directly
to my beloved speakers at the risk of damaging them. Ouch !
So I tried with my Xindak , that showed a lot of relay swtiches in its complicated circuit....and all went well. You can hear the internal relay clicking whenever an ugly digital byproduct occurs, but it does not go into the stereo.
Now that all my demat system works
perfectly it's time for an evaluation.
Sound is perfect....but old CD record
seems to have more warmth...could be psychological without a blindfold test.
But
major drawback is uncontrolled surfing...I found myself listening to 18 seconds
of 27 songs with the remote control going beserk.
Maybe I had the same feeling
when I went for vinyles to CDs....progress...
