UPDATES : Crisis stereo
I found this pair of Dual speakers for 10 euros in a secondhand shop . Nice wood and full-range loudspeaker from a past era where everything was made in Europe, here Germany. They have a great tone, mostly on vocals and horns and a very lively stereo image for their size and wattage . Very good efficiency too , so I decided to pair them with a homemade T-class amp, the smallest at 2x15w---and my CD50--- :
I really made things simple and cheap here, bringing the total cost of the stereo system below 30euros. Well, you can see I added them tweeters from my spare stock---with no caps in series...I don't fear this low volume and wattage & tone is better this way : they can compete with the very good efficiency of the wide range--- , but I could live without ... I am still surprised by the sound of these small speakers..here is a back view :
Dual CL9 speakers direct from Germany with their obligatory din plugs I love.
We can still have a very , very nice stereo system in these difficult times...

pics are not mine but I will be glad to give the right credit
I am still amazed to this day by the tone of these old little speakers....really addictive..and they spread into the whole plant with an incredible ease at low volume...you can hear them perfectly wherever you are without bothering about finding any kind of 'sweetspot'...
Anyway, I felt the marantz cd50 was too noble to make this system a real crisis system...so I looked for something cheap and that will match better this philosophy....here is what I found :
This sony dvp-pq1 dvd player really amused me with its weird look and its original spiderman removable jacket....but as it cost 22euros and featured sony precision drive 2 mechanism, I supposed I had to buy it and use it as a drive---as you can see it seems to do a great job on the oscillo....but I looked on the internet and found it was fitted with a 24/192 dac...so I wired it directly and I must say it's a real joy to listen to it.
So, 10euros for the speakers, 22euros for the source and 20euros for the amp. Even if you add 30euros tweeters you're still well under 100euros total for a system that will not put shame on your audiophile face.
