UPDATES : Philips CD722 as transport
I came to reconsider this player
as a transport after my experiences on spdif traces on 2 other Philips , the
cd930 and cd618 .
Let's see again the direct spdif from the dsp chip SA7345
:
We saw this shape of trace can
be corrected with a simple 75 ohm resistor in series. So here we go :
So here we are : a perfect trace and this player, as the cd618, is not affected by direct spdif stealing. And as it can be operated with the same remote control that all my other main machines -- cd618, 3A cdp, marantz cd40--- I will keeep it in my main rig. If only the Siemens could use the same remote...
That makes me think again about
spdif traces : if only a resistor can do this magical change ---in both way,
remember the sharkteeth trace with only too big a resistor---I wonder if this
kind of measurement is any use....
This is why I will from now on rely only
on a pair of instruments I trust : my ears.
